Democrats dominate mail-in ballots for NJ's June 6 legislative primaries
The presidential election is still well over a year away, but it appears Republican voters already believe former President Donald Trump is their strongest candidate. A new Monmouth University poll out Tuesday finds a majority of Republican voters say Trump is the best candidate to beat President Joe Biden in 2024. Some 45% of those polled said Trump "definitely" would be the best choice.

45 percent of those polled say he's definitely the best choice Trump's backing has remained firm in the party meanwhile New Jersey's former Governor Chris Christie is giving off negative Vibes just 21 percent of those polled view him favorably 47 percent had an unfavorable opinion now that doesn't seem to be stopping Christie's Ambitions the New York Times reports his allies set up a Super PAC called tell it like it is it's the latest sign that Christy is planning to announce his presidential campaign there's no word on the timing of that or if it'll coincide with New Jersey's Primary Election coming up in next Tuesday June 6th all 120 legislators are on the ballot primaries historically have a low voter turnout which means a small group of committed supporters can have a big impact on the outcome so far there's only about a hundred and ninety thousand vote by mail ballots that have come in senior writer and projects editor Colleen O'Day has the early breakdown most of the ballots are coming from Democrats that's also not surprising we know that Democrats tend to embrace voting by mail in more than Republicans at least in New Jersey about a third of Democrats who requested ballots or who were on on the list to get them automatically about a third of them have sent back their ballots while about a quarter of Republicans who received a ballot have sent it back so far [Music]
